Z-Shot 1.7.0: Edit Videos by Transcript, Scrolling Capture & Pin to Screen

Edit videos by deleting transcript lines, remove "um" and "uh", add background music, chapters, vertical video and moving blur. Capture scrolling chats and tables, pin captures on top, and Z-Shot now lives at z-shots.com.

Z-Shot 1.7.0 is the biggest update yet for our free screen recorder and screenshot tool for Chrome. Video Studio can now edit by transcript, clean up your voice and make vertical video, and new capture tools handle scrolling chats, tables and side bars. Everything works on the Free plan with monthly limits; Pro removes them.

Sign-in, plans, checkout and your account now live on z-shots.com. You don't need to do anything: Z-Shot switches over by itself after the update. Get it on the Chrome Web Store.

Video Studio

  • Edit by transcript: cut a subtitle line and that part of the video is cut. Put it back with one click or Undo. Search finds any word.
  • Clean Up Voice: remove "um", "uh" and long pauses in one step.
  • Background music that loops under your video and gets quieter while you talk.
  • Chapters: add named markers by hand or from your subtitles, then copy them straight into a YouTube description.
  • Vertical and square video: Fill & follow crops to 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 and follows your cursor, ready for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.
  • Moving blur boxes: hide emails and keys that move on screen. Text, boxes, spotlights and images can move too.
  • Cursor polish: the screen recorder now saves your pointer's path, so Video Studio can draw a smooth, larger cursor with a ripple on every click.
  • Split a layer at the playhead: move or hide your camera for just part of the video.
  • Subtitle templates with timed captions.
  • MP4 that plays on phones is now the default export.

  • Scrolling area capture: capture a long chat, table or side bar inside a page as one image.
  • Scroll video: turn a tall capture into a smooth top-to-bottom MP4, up to 4K.
  • Pin to screen: keep a capture floating on top while you work.
  • Magnifier tool: enlarge any detail with a round zoom bubble.
  • Saved styles: save your favourite colours, line widths and fonts and reuse them in one click.
  • One-click Beautify: padding, rounded corners, a shadow and a matching background in one click.

Gallery

  • Trash: deleted captures stay for 30 days, so you can restore them.

  • Notices when a new version is available.

  • Fixes: long words in captions now wrap, and Z-Shot asks for fewer browser permissions.

Your screenshots and recordings stay on your computer. z-shots.com never stores them, which makes Z-Shot a private screen recorder by design.
